This Cookie Policy explains how Family-Friendly Events uses cookies and similar technologies (like your browser's local storage) when you visit the site. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes more broadly how we handle your information.
The short version: we use a small number of cookies to make the site work, and we only load analytics after you say yes. You are always in control, and you can change your mind at any time.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between page loads — for example, that you are signed in. "Local storage" is a similar technology built into your browser that we use to remember your cookie choice. Throughout this policy we say "cookies" to cover both.
The cookies we use
We group cookies by what they do.
Strictly necessary — always on
These make the site function and keep it secure. They cannot be switched off, because the site would not work without them, and United States law does not require your consent for them.
| Cookie | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and links your requests together as you move through the site. |
CSRF token (XSRF-TOKEN) |
Protects forms against cross-site request forgery. |
| Language preference | Remembers whether you are viewing the site in English or Spanish. |
| Timezone preference | Remembers your timezone so dates and times on the site display correctly. |
| Cookie choice | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask on every visit. Stored in your browser's local storage. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | A privacy-respecting anti-spam check on our sign-up and contact forms. |
Analytics — only with your consent
These help us understand how the site is used — which pages families and vendors visit, where they arrive from, and what we can improve. They do not run until you accept them.
| Cookie | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures anonymous, aggregated usage (page views, referral source, general location). We do not use it to identify you personally or to serve ads. |
Embedded media — only with your consent
Some vendor profiles include embedded video, audio, or virtual tours (for example from YouTube, Vimeo, or Spotify). These providers may set their own cookies. To protect your privacy, we do not load an embed — and its provider cannot set cookies — until you have accepted optional cookies; a single banner choice covers both analytics and embedded media. Until then, we show a link you can open in a new tab instead. Where we can, we use privacy-preserving modes such as YouTube's no-cookie domain.
Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit, a banner appears asking whether to allow optional cookies (analytics and embedded media). Your choice is remembered so you are not asked again.
You can change that choice at any time using the button below. Reopening the banner lets you switch optional cookies on or off. Declining does not affect the strictly necessary cookies the site needs to work.
You can also clear or block cookies through your browser's own settings. If you block the strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site — such as signing in — may stop working.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and optional cookies (analytics and embedded media) load only after a user consents through the banner. For how we handle children's information, see the Children's Privacy section of our Privacy Policy.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no shared industry standard for how sites should respond, so we do not currently react to it. The same is true of the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: because we do not sell personal data and do not use it for cross-context targeted advertising, there is no sale or targeted advertising for the signal to opt out of. If our practices change, we will honor opt-out preference signals as required by applicable law. Instead, we give you a direct, clear choice through the banner described above.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and its effective date. For significant changes, the consent banner will reappear so you can review your choice.
Your cookie choices
You can turn analytics cookies on or off at any time. Reopen the consent banner to change your current choice — essential cookies always stay on.
