Account settings overview
Your account settings are where you manage how you appear on the site and how you sign in.
Where to find them
Sign in, then open Account Settings from your dashboard. Everything below lives there.
What you can change
- Display name — the name shown on your activity.
- Username — your public handle; see the Username policy.
- Timezone — how dates and times appear to you; see Timezone preferences.
- Email and password — your login details; see Changing your email or password.
- Public profile — an optional, opt-in public page. It is private by default.
- Notifications — what reaches your inbox and how often; see below.
Notifications
Open Notifications from your account page to see everything you're subscribed to in one place. For each kind of notification you can turn the email off and keep it on the site, and for round-ups you can choose daily, weekly or monthly (weekly by default).
A few kinds are always sent — moderation decisions, billing, and account notices. Those are the messages you need to run your account, so they're listed on the page but can't be switched off. Turning an email off never hides the notification on the site.
Managing your data
Account Settings is also where you start a data deletion request. See Deleting your account for how that works.
